Training

We are currently training at Rowan Veterinary Centre, Hillock Lane. Freckleton, Preston, PR4 1TP.
We are extremely grateful to Ruth Mackay and all the staff at Rowan for allowing us the use of their facilities.
We tend to train weekends throughout winter and weekday evenings throughout the summer, this is usually outdoors so subject to the weather and ground conditions although we do have the use of a basic indoor facility too.
Beginner Training Courses
Unfortunately we are not currently able to offer training to beginners simply due to the number of young team dogs we are already training. We do not offer 'have a go sessions', all the training we do is geared towards competing which is a long and time consuming process.
We do occasionally offer beginners courses for those considering competing. We offer a first free taster session followed by 4 weekly blocks priced at £20 payable in advance. The spaces on the courses are limited and are on a first come, first serve basis.
Dogs must be aged 6 months or older, be sociable with other dogs and have a good recall.
We offer grounding training from 6 months old onwards although this may vary depending on breed/maturity. Any training between 6-11 months is non impact motivational training; close up chute work to teach the correct box technique and restrained recalls over 7 hurdles to teach the hurdling technique and encourage drive. The dogs do not do full runs on the chute/box until they are at least 11 months old and preparing for starters competition.
